Moreira da Silva nasceu e viveu no Rio de Janeiro, na época em que a cidade era a capital da República e sua cultura e tipos populares definiam a identidade brasileira. Com trânsito fácil entre o morro e o asfalto soube, como nenhum artista da sua época, explorar a linguagem e a malícia que ajudaram a criar a figura do carioca. Um tipo que ele trouxe dos batuques de rua para o rádio e, mais tarde, para a televisão e o manteve atual durante os 97 anos em que viveu. Criador do samba-de-breque e dono de uma linguagem tão particular que uma simples observação tinha a mesma poética de um verso, a vida e a obra de Moreira da Silva estarão neste Musicograma especial que a TV Brasil exibe no sábado (31), às 21h30. Não se trata apenas de lembrá-lo nos 110 anos de nascimento, mas a partir da sua vida e obra entender a vida do país. Moreira da Silva nasceu no começo do século vinte, 1902, quando o Rio de Janeiro estava em transformação, com a inauguração das primeiras salas de cinema, mas assim como hoje, já era uma cidade partida, onde os ricos frequentavam os cafés e teatros do centro e os artistas se espalhavam pela Lapa e zona boêmia do mangue. Contemporâneo de Noel Rosa acompanhou o início da interação do samba com a elite carioca. Os anos 30 e 40 foram os mais criativos da sua carreira, no rádio e nos cassinos, um universo em que foi rei absoluto. Quando gravou o segundo disco, "O último malandro", em 1958, adotou o terno branco, sapato bicolor e chapéu panamá. A amizade com o poeta e radialista Miguel Gustavo começa nesta fase. Juntos, criaram e deram vida ao personagem Kid Morengueira, uma mistura bem dosada de herói e malandro com que Moreira da Silva deixou seu nome, para sempre, na história da MPB.
